SEATTLE WORLD TOUR MOVES ONLINE TO RAISE FUNDS AND FOOD FOR PEOPLE IN NEED

Music With A Message Series” is a 3 month digital and physical campaign focused on giving back to the community while providing a platform to local musicians.

January 9, 2021 | Seattle, WA: The Annual Seattle World Tour, traditionally a showcase of local musicians performing in historic venues across Seattle to raise money for people in need, is changing its format in response to the Covid-19 pandemic. This year, the newly formed Seattle World Tour Foundation will launch a number of campaigns throughout the year, starting with “Music with a Message”, a 3-month digital and physical campaign featuring a diverse range of 12 of Seattle artists. The foundation is the brainchild of local hip-hop band All Star Opera and media platform Respect My Region. The two have come together to provide a platform for artists while contributing to the community at large. The goal is to raise food donations and funds for Rainier Valley Food Bank and South King County & Eastside COVID Mutual Aid.

Each week, The Seattle World Tour Foundation will be featuring one artist - starting on Monday, January 11 with SENDAI ERA, the music duo of emcee Era and producer Sendai Mike who write and create videos and songs inspired by the stories of people in the Asian American community in the PNW. The video will include interviews as well as excerpts from a special performance video to be released on Wednesday, January 12 on the Tour’s IGTV and YouTube channels. The full interview will be released on Thursday. Each artist will make an appeal to fans to donate food items and other necessities at Clutch Cannabis, Reef Cannabis, and the Georgetown and Greenwood locations of The Bakeree over the next 90 days. “Based on the success of the past two Seattle World Tours and the reality that we will not be able to host in-person shows till 2022, we knew we had to find a creative way to meet our joint goals of rallying artists to use their platform to support the most vulnerable in our community and providing a showcase for worthy artists, many of whom are POCs who are already making a difference in their own communities,” said Seth McDonald, co-founder of Seattle World Tour Foundation. “We are honored that so many Seattle artists as well as our partners Respect My Region, Reef Cannabis, The Bakeree, Clutch Cannabis, All Star Opera, Suspended Brands and Craft Elixirs, stepped up to help people across our region who are food insecure”, he said.

“As a band, we are always looking for ways to have a positive impact. That is why we jumped at the opportunity to be part of the 2021 Seattle World Tour,” said Cameron Lavi-Jones, leader of Seattle alt-rock band, King Youngblood. “While the homelessness crisis in Seattle has been escalating for the past few years, the addition of the Coronavirus pandemic has made it even more important for every Seattlite to come together to support our friends and neighbors in need.”

The 2021 Seattle World Tour will run from Monday, January 11, 2021 until March.
